Assessments

Assessments play an important role in the learning process. In some schools,  over-testing is a problem, but at EMS we strategically use only the highest quality, nationally recognized assessments. We administer assessments in a low threat manner that promotes learning and reduces student anxiety. Assessments are, first and foremost, to help us as a school educate our students more effectively. Thoughtful assessments provide teachers with valuable information regarding student progress. Additionally, assessments help teachers effectively plan instructional interventions for students that need additional help.

Elementary School

  • In our Elementary school (K-6), we use the Acadience Math and Reading assessments to measure our students’ progress. All of our core teachers have been trained in administering and interpreting this assessment. It provides highly reliable data around student learning that helps us more effectively meet our students learning needs.

Secondary School

  • In our Secondary school (7-12) we use College Board’s PSAT/SAT suite of assessments.  These assessments provide student data that helps us improve our Secondary academic program.  Additionally, it positions our students well for being prepared for the important SAT test.
