We are treated as imposters, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we life; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything."

I saw what happened in their lives as she prayed for them and showed them the love of Christ. I saw them grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. I saw children who, supposedly, would never read learn to do so, because she never gave up on them. I teach because I want to show Christ's love to my students in that way. Lauren Fahnestock
Title: Teacher's Aide
Email Address: lauren.fahnestock@ephratamennoite.org
School Term Starting at EMS: 2020-2021
Level of Education: High School Diploma
Education: As a high schooler I was a service learner in the elementary PE classes. So far my formal education has capped at a high school diploma but I continually seek opportunities to grow and learn and eventually would love to pursue higher education.
Church Involvement: I Attend White Oak Church regularly.
Community Involvement: I am a staff member at teen Tuesday Church and Culture. These are separate but related programs who's focus is to minister and build safe relationships with the youth of Lancaster city.
Hobbies: When I am not at School I enjoy anything of the artistic nature; especially painting emotive portraits. I also love to play volleyball and spikeball whenever the opportunity arises.
Countries Visited: Greece, Turkey, Nicaragua, Canada
Life Verse: Psalm 62:5 "Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him."
Reason for Teaching: As an elementary student I was never the athlete. I was the child picking flowers in the outfield. When I entered into middle school I soon discovered that hard work and dedication were equally valued. As a junior and senior I came early to school to practice and loved to compete. None of it came naturally so I learned to love figuring it out. I find that I love to teach these things because it was so challenging to learn them. I value when I see kids trying their hardest and getting up to try again after falling many times. Entering into God's calling, by giving students the tools that they need to be successful socially and athletically, brings me joy and inspiration.
